Discovering the country of Pagnol, Raimu, and Fernandel
This authentic seaside resort of the Var is one of the oldest in France. The first tourists to see it were Marcel Pagnol, Mistinguett, Raimu and Fernandel. They made Bandol popular well before Brigitte Bardot took off her gingham dresses over in Saint-Tropez.
For sunbathing, the many sandy beaches will delight even the most difficult to please (Grand Vallat beach, Casino beach, Central beach, Rénecros beach). And for those who prefer the poetry of pebbles, head on over to Barry, Capelin and Eden Roc beaches. The more adventurous will discover beautiful calanques and natural coves along the ridge trail.

In its marina, Bandol welcomes approximately 1600 vessels of all sizes: yachts, tall ships, tuna fishing boats, trawlers… And if you don’t have sea legs, you can always turn to the Mediterranean and its seabeds, renowned among lovers of scuba diving. Because you can practise all kinds of nautical sports, you will certainly find your pleasure.
And for those who prefer dry land, head out to the Frégate golf course. Nestled in the hills, with views of the Mediterranean, they will allow the initiated as well as beginners to play on one of the most beautiful courses in Europe.
World-famous wine country
Bandol, is also the most famous of the nectars of the Var. For the record, it’s this famous south-facing vineyard that obtained the first AOC label in 1941.
Today, there are more than 50 wineries that cultivate the famous Mourvèdre grapes which gives uniqueness to the wine of Bandol: powerful and velvety red wines, fruity and racy roses, fine and full-bodied whites.
